The unique Rena Smartfilter takes aquarium power filters to the next level of ease and convenience. Each filter contains a unique Bio Chem Stars tower for extra added biological filtration, effectively adding the filtration power of a more expensive and complex canister filter to this handy package. Other features include a convenient dosing port for adding medications and aquarium water treatments, a caddy designed for easy access for filter maintenance, a motor rack that removes by itself for cleaning without taking apart the filter, as well as a special four-sided filter cartridge designed to fit all sizes. Includes and requires two filter cartridges.

Bought the Smartfilter 55, but has same motor as this product 7 months ago. Recently started sounding / performing horribly. Emailed customer service to which the only answer was mail in unit at my shipping cost both direction and they'd 'fix' unit. When I asked for a unit to be sent to me upfront since this was in a working aquarium got the runaround. Called and got same result with the 'you should always have a backup pump'..... no I should have bought a product that works and is reliable. Will never buy another RENA project again.
Bad product, horrible customer service... AVOID
